Weddings a great time of joy and celebration. They are also a time for gift giving. I recently had a friend get engaged and decided I wanted to give the new couple some of my jam, as I know they both enjoyed my Christmas gift of jam.
So I set about to raise my jam skills from one-time present to Wedding-level of awesomeness. I made 6 different jam recipes that I will share and the labels I added.
In their first year of marriage, they will get to enjoy a new 1/2 pint of jam each month.
The Basic Recipe
- 2 lbs frozen fruit
- 2 cups of sugar
Yield: ~2 cups of jam
I mixed and matched the available fruits to create some great creations.
The 6 Jam Wedding Present:
- Cranberry- Strawberry
- Peach
- Raspberry-Blackberry
- Blueberry-Strawberry
- Mango-Pineapple
- Peach-Mango-Strawberry-Pineapple
Having taste tested all of them I still found the cranberry-strawberry to be my favorite. The peach was also amazing as was the mango-pineapple. Tim loved the peach and my cranberry-strawberry jam. The blueberry-strawberry jam took a long time to boil down. The raspberry-blackberry jam did not need to be blended as the berries reduced down to a smooth jam by themselves.
My favorite recipe of all time is the one I will share below.
Cranberry-Strawberry Jam
- 1 lb Cranberry
- 1 lb Strawberry
- 2 cups sugar
Add all ingredients to a pot and bring to a simmer. If you started from frozen, once melted blend using an immersion blender or in a regular blender.
Stirring often, boil down until jam thickens. The jam may reduce in size by half.
Hot fill canning jars with 1/4 inch headspace. Process for 15 minutes in a water bath canner.
